Global advancements in farming techniques are crucial for enhancing crop productivity, aligning with Vanuatu’s national goal. Antoine Ravo, the Director of the Department of Agriculture, emphasizes that many resources in the country are underutilized due to farmers’ lack of awareness.
During a recent training session in Port Vila, Ravo stressed the importance of staying focused on business plans and national targets. Over 70 farmers from Tafea and Shefa provinces participated in a training program aimed at improving agricultural techniques, particularly increasing yields.
John Iaulu from Tanna shared his experience, highlighting the impact of the workshop on his farming practices. Annie Sailes from Rantapau, East Efate, emphasized the significance of English language learning in agriculture classes to enhance community awareness.
Increased awareness is expected to boost the government’s efforts in promoting sustainable agriculture, contributing to a stronger agricultural sector and reducing dependence on imported produce
